Groff Conklin, ed., THE SCIENCE FICTION GALAXY

Perma Books #P67, 1950. First edition. Perma Books was launched to publish paperback-sized books with durable hard covers. They were priced at 35 cents, a dime more than the average paperback. The idea never really caught on and the New York-based company jettisoned the original concept to publish traditional paperbacks. Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Theodore Sturgeon, John D. MacDonald, Murray Leinster are just some of the genre heavyweights included in this anthology edited by Groff Conklin. Condition: Fine. An unread copy I’d grade As New but for the ever-so-slight age toning to the typical PB paper. The hard covers are clean and glossy and lacking any signs of wear. The corners are sharp; you could poke your eye out on them. Original owner inscribed his name, address, and date of purchase on the inside front pastedown; it’s neat and unobtrusive. A beautiful collector’s copy of this uncommon SF title.
