STARTLING STORIES, Aug. ’52, Philip José Farmer’s first published SF

Farmer’s daring debut SF novel, “The Lovers,” is a genre milestone, the first story to seriously examine the prospect of human-alien sex. The issue has a tame but well executed cover by Earle Bergey. Condition: Very Good. There’s rubbing to the front cover’s green ink and some minor edgewear on front and back covers. The spine is dinged at head and heel but there’s no paper loss. Text block is off-white with very light “halo.” Definitely a collectable copy for those unwilling to shell out what a high-grade copy commands these days.
